Hayward Nissan is proud to announce the launch of the Nissan LEAF, a Zero Emission(TM) next-generation 100% electric car.  The engineers and designers worked to create a real-world car that enables Nissan to lead into the zero-emission era.  CLICK HERE to find out more information about the Nissan LEAF and sign up to receive more information about the release and other details as they emerge.

Nissan LEAF is Nissan's first zero emissions car, not to be confused with a hybrid or any other type of gas-powered, eco-friendly vehicle. The Nissan LEAF is 100% electric. That means it burns zero gas and produces zero emissions. Nissan LEAF preforms like a V6 powered vehicle with room for five adults.  Plus it comes with all the quality, reliability and versatility you've come to expect from a Nissan.

Range anxiety - the fear of being stranded by a dead battery - remains one impediment to the mass adoption of electric cars, and Nissan hopes to alleviate such worries with a car that tells you when and where to charge up. Nissan calls it "EV-IT" and says it will work with the car's on-board navigation system to:

  • Show the driving radius and range under the current state of charge
  • Calculate whether the vehicle is within range of a pre-set destination like your home or office
  • Provide information about charging stations within the current driving range and provide info about them

Drivers also can monitor the state of charge of their vehicle online and by cell phone. For example, when your battery is fully charged, you can get a text message to notify you.

Time magazine called the Nissan LEAF one of the 50 best inventions of 2009.

Nissan LEAF will employ an advanced IT system. Connected to a global data center, the system provides support, information, and entertainment for drivers 24 hours a day. The dash-mounted monitor displays LEAF's remaining power, in addition to showing a selection of nearby charging stations.

Users' mobile phones can be used to turn on air-conditioning, the heater and re-set charging functions even when the vehicle is powered down. An on-board remote-controlled timer can also be pre-programmed to recharge batteries.

What is the driving experience like?

A unique feature of a fully-electric drive-train is the outstanding driving performance.  High-performance motors and compact lithium-ion batteries with high power output and energy capacity deliver high performance response and smooth, powerful acceleration.  You will be amazed at how fun to drive the LEAF is, and how quiet the operation is  without a traditional internal combustion engine under the hood.

Smooth Acceleration

Overwhelming quietness

Environmentally Friendly

Cost effective and low total cost of ownership
