San José Clean Energy (SJCE) offers instant rebates you can apply at the dealership when you buy or lease a qualifying battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Savings are applied as an instant discount at the point of sale.

How It Works

  1. Confirm eligibility (see paths below).
  2. Shop a qualifying BEV under the $60,000 price cap.
  3. Bring your rebate code (or qualifying award letter) and ID.
  4. Redeem at a participating dealership to receive the instant discount.

Get Started: Two Ways to Qualify

Automatic Qualification

If you have been approved for Clean Cars for All or the Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP), you qualify automatically.

  1. Bring your ID and your qualifying program award letter.
  2. Redeem the instant rebate at a participating dealership (no application needed).

CARE / FERA or Under 100% AMI

  1. Apply online. CARE or FERA customers may receive a rebate code instantly.
  2. If your household income is below 100% AMI, provide proof of income:
    • Tax returns: 1040, 1099, W-2, or IRS 4852 form, or
    • CalFresh or Medi-Cal enrollment
  3. If approved, you will receive your rebate code by email (typically 1–3 business days).
  4. Bring your rebate code to a participating dealer to redeem.

Do plug-in hybrids qualify?
